FiSMA is resurrected

You may recall www.fisma.org was a site devoted to facilitating communications between Entrepreneurs and high net worth and sophisticated Investors. The original software went out of date but the site is now resurrected using modern social networking tools. You can set up Project Rooms to encourage investment or to act as a showcase for your company. In a Project Room you can put up your documents (business ideas, projections, accounts, market research for example) and decide if and when to let Investors browse. There is the choice of allowing documents to be available to all Investors or only to those Investors granted permission to enter. Additional features on the site include Skype (if you use it) and Chat (both one to one and group) allowing you to whisper to one person or join a group discussion. Investors can be actively involved, or simply browse through documents on display. The aim is to provide not only low cost communication facilities to Entrepreneurs and Investors but also provide an innovative environment where trust and integrity can grow and relationships flourish. As well as Entrepreneurs and Investors, Advisers are welcome but an Adviser must have a web site and also be capable of self-certifying her or himself as a high net worth or sophisticated Investor (and thereby get the same privileges as Investors). Entrepreneurs only have access to their own Project Rooms. However all registered users of www.fisma.org can open Project Rooms. We hope Entrepreneurs, Investors and their Advisers will use the site not just as a tool to help raise capital but also as a long term facility to communicate with one another about the progress of a Project/company. As ever, the new site has been developed to enable Investors and Entrepreneurs to communicate with one another within the exemptions provided by the Financial Promotion Order. We believe it sensible for Investors to group together to spread risk and to share experiences and FiSMA is intended as a tool to facilitate this. By having a focus on group discussions we hope also to encourage an environment where more female Investors will participate. FiSMA, which was set up in 2003 to promote enterprise in the UK, is run on a not for profit basis and for the present is completely free. At some stage we shall start charging a modest monthly fee to those who set up Project Rooms. As for me personally, I have given up the daily commute to London and for the rest of my career shall practise law from an office – www.mackaycartershaw.com - in my garden focusing on Entrepreneurs and Investors providing City experience at reasonable rates. In my spare time I shall devote my attention to treating www.fisma.org as a serious hobby. www.fisma.org is now being beta tested – please come and experiment. Even if you do not want to put anything on public display just come and test the Project Rooms (remember you can keep documents private if you do not want them on public display).
